Not long ago, I had a computer crash that caused me to lose my database of cellared tobaccos. (And led me to switch from PCs to an iMac. But that's a different topic...) So I recently re-inventoried my stockpile, which consists entirely of sealed tins stored in storage containers. This time, I decided I needed to number the containers, so I could know specifically which tins were in which containers.

Anyway, all of that to say: Today I was poking around the basement and came across a container that had escaped my notice before. It wasn't numbered. I wasn't sure it even contained tobacco. But I opened it up, and it was like Christmas Day all over again. Here's some of what I found inside, that I'd completely forgotten I had:

    Murray's era Dunhill London Mixture
3 tins of GLPease Bohemian Scandal
    8oz bag of GLPease Renaissance
1 and 1/2 pounds of Westminster
    1 pound of Charing Cross
and other assorted tins ranging in date from 2004-2008.

I had assumed I'd traded/sold some of these tins and just forgotten about it. It was truly a joy to open this box and find them all waiting there!

That's better than finding money in an old jacket. Congrats!

rmbittner, great story, finding aged tobacco you completely forgot about is like winning the lottery. I had taken a few years off from my pipes, so when I cam back to them this May, I opened my containers that all my tins were in and found all kinds of stuff I had forgotten about. Most of it was Murray's era Dunhill English blends which I knew about, but I found Veermaster, Escudo,Penzance, Three Nuns, Orlik Dark Strong Kentucky( 17 years old) and others. Since I no longer smoke English, those are being sold for me and bringing some really nice coin.
