I just thought I would say a thing or two about this series
of pipe as I have really come to enjoy how they smoke
flake tobacco. I have a Vario and a Deluxe and they have
both performed above and beyond for me every time. They
have a nice conical drilled tobacco chamber, which just
screams "flake" ;-)
Now when smoking flake in these two pipes I choose a fold/stack/rip
pack. I basically take a larger flake like a Dunhill one, fold it
length wise about three or four times evenly (you can judge
based on bowl diameter) and then rip it down about three or
four times and stack to make a nice little plug. Give this method a try,
I find it works great, keeps the flake burning even, cool and
with full flavor
Also since they have a military style mount, they are great for
on the go, being about to break down the stem right after
smoking to carry/clean.
