I just picked up this Stanwell pipe and it has the following stamping:
Stanwell Model Depose

Hand Made in Denmark 30H

Does anyone know anything about these? I would post more pics but I only took the one and already have the stem soaking and currently reaming the bowl.
Here is a pic from SmokingPipes that I found and it looks just like it:

OK, the first thing, is the absence of the Regd. No. 969-48 mark, the "Regd. No." stamping discontinued in late 1960s to very early 1970s, so that gives you a loose sense of the dating of the pipe. Shape 30 is one of the most famous of the Stanwell shapes, designed by Sixten Ivarrson. Does your pipe have the crowned S on the stem? If it were the Stanwell stem it should.

dmcmtk - It does have the crowned S on the stem, it is very faint but it is there.

Cool. Clean it up, it will be a great smoking pipe! The other thing you may find marked on the stem, perhaps on the bottom, is HAND CUT.

Yes you are right! Now that I cleaned it up I can see it. Somebody really loved this pipe and never cleaned it! Thanks dmcmtk for the info!
