I've always loved the tin note of Stanwell Melange. Heavenly.
I always wanted to love this tobacco. I love the idea of it. But the reality is much different: this blend bites like a blowtorch, burns hot, and has all of the negatives one usually associates with an aromatic.
About 6 or 8 months ago I jarred some up mixed 50/50 with Carter Hall. And this evening I smoked a bowl. The results were a much improved, much smoother Melange. The distinct aroma is still there, and the flavor is smoothened out by the Carter Hall.
Just wanted to post up in case there were any Melange lovers out there who just didn't enjoy smoking the stuff straight. I don't know that I would go out of my way to repeat my experience with Melange, but here's a way to make it a pleasant, once-in-awhile smoke.
