So I bought a couple of tins of Capstan Blue when it first returned. I cracked open one of those tins this week and felt the flake and it was pretty moist. I cubed it up and set it to dry about an hour. Put it in one of my best VA smoking pipes, a danish freehand Royal Danish pipe. This pipe seems to get those VA's to sing and brings the best out of them. Well, the Capstan was not good at all out of that pipe. It got soggy and wet, did not taste near what I was hoping for. I was so disappointed I almost came on here to offer it up to someone who may appreciate it more than I. However, I never throw tobacco out on one try. So I did the exact same thing in preparation of the Capstan Blue but this time I put it in a bent egg shaped pipe made by J. Parker. This time the tobacco was very good. The tangy taste with hay notes was sublime. So my favorite VA pipe actually found a VA it didn't like. I was a bit shocked by it. But hey, at least I did find a pipe who did smoke the stuff well.
