Here's a sneak peak of a new Ryan Alden that I'm so excited about, I just had to give you folks a sneak peak.

The stummel is a mix of sandblast and smooth AND the shank is sandblasted bamboo that has been contrast stained. I can't wait to get this in my hands.

The crazy thing about Ryan's pipes is that I'm losing my comfort zone and preconceived notions about style and such. His pipes smoke so well that I'm willing to just buy one and learn. Such good stuff.

This pipe is 5 1/2 inches long and weighs 30 grams.

I'll post more pics when it arrives. I'm not sure he wants this tidbit out, but this pipe was going to the Kansas City Pipe Show but it wasn't finished, so I lucked out and conned him into selling it.

Oh my, that is stunning! Nice grab -- I can see why you're so excited. Wow!

That is a fantastical pipe. It has the IT factor. One day.

Well done. Tim. I'm not a big bamboo fan but I would have jumped on that one too. Enjoy it.

Same here. And I love that it's fairly small. Lot's of "crazy" shapes end up being on the heavy side.

That is beautiful! As soon as I read bamboo, I immediately assumed maybe it was a prototype for KC. But I certainly didn't think it would have been his actual entry.

    Congrats.

ps that Comoy's 87 smokes great BTW

    Thanks again!

Very nice. Possibly the only one in the world with that sweet stem! (?)

I know that you believe you understood what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

It's a shame he couldn't get it to KC for the carvers' contest.

That's a lot of style packed in to a small package. Lovely.

Like Brad, I typically am not attracted to those shapes.
But that one, the finishes and size/shape looks pretty damn good. That thing must only weigh 30 grams or so!
Love that bamboo color as well.
Smart move, not letting that one reach Kansas City.

    Damn Tim !!

Thats a fabulous pipe. I spoke to Ryan a few days ago and was thinking of getting a Lovat from him in the possible future. Love the guy, so down to earth and a perfect buddy !!

    Cheers,
    Chris

Albert Einstein was once quoted as saying, “I believe that pipe smoking contributes to a somewhat calm and objective judgment in all human affairs.” One of the reasons behind this statement is that pipe smoking is meant to be a slow leisurely activity. It takes patience to smoke a pipe. Unlike cigarettes and cigars, there is a certain amount of technique to smoking a pipe. Where cigars and cigarettes can just be picked up, lit and puffed on, pipes require the development of a technique in order to get the best smoking experience.
