Tody I realised my new boots had broken in. It was a small pleasure, an internally personal victory. This means I don't need to walk like an idiot at the end of the day anymore. I got to thinking of other little victories;
Settling in one's new guitar strings and realising you've done a great job intonating the instrument.
Making a meal for someone and gettig it right.
And a specifically ex-pat-specific one
Being able to go into the barber without feeling dread at what you're going to look like coming back out again! The New Chinese have a particular way of cutting hair and a particular sense of "style". I've seen some disasters on Western heads who had obviously just smiled when their trendy cutter had said
"Can I make you look like David Bowie from the Eighties and dye our hair peroxide blond? It'll be cool"
