So I was shopping on Amazon looking for some herbs and came across this. It is a herb shredder. I said to my self, "Self, this looks like it would do a good job on baccy." Well, self was correct. Here is some Penzance that came out perfect. Just put it in, turn a couple of times and out pops perfect to smoke baccy. Plug, flake, everything that needs to be prepared comes out just right. Amazon has them, dirt cheap. Look for herb shredder.

Herb in this instance means "herb" but I'm glad to see it work for OUR side too. I may have to get one!

Cyndi: when you read the reviews it says for all kinds of herbs, fresh from your garden but, it doesn't say what you grow in them there gardens. I had to laugh when I read it as it hints as to what it 'may' be used for.

I'm missing something... why buy flake in the first place if you're just going to shred it? This thing is NOT meant for tobacco.

Sorry, but I for one do not want one of these things.

    it is a tool.

As long as it doesn't have a cartoon mushroom and dwarf painted on it, it is just another tool.

If it makes his tobacco easier to smoke, for him, who gives a crap?

You can also get them in most smoke shops. any smoke shop that sell bongs probly has them. Also some gas stations have them as well

As long as I got a pipe full of baccy and a nose full of snuff, I'm a happy camper

That's pretty cool, but if I'm going to smoke a flake rubbed, I just use my hands and a piece of paper to catch the tobacco.

+1 for portascat. Just use a different one for your baccy and yor "herb garden" and it's all groovy.

    portascat,

If someone wants to buy a "tool" to do something is EASILY done by hand, you're right, I don't give a crap. I may think that person is throwing their money away, but it's their money.

I'm just responding to the post's title "Shredder, man you want one of these!" Even though it may have legitimate (albeit superfluous) uses, I don't need it and no, I don't want it. In 24 years of pipe smoking, I've never had neither the need nor the desire for grinding my tobacco.

    EXACTLY!

God, the way you guys dance around and squirm anytime something may be related to Marijuana comes up you would think you were all 7nth graders or grandma's. I've used rolling papers meant obviously for joints to roll tobacco, I've also used furniture polish to shine up a gun stock. Original intended purpose has no bearing on whether or not something is useful for something else. Soldiers used to use condoms stretched over the muzzle of their rifles to protect them from the elements on long marches, I doubt many of them sat around giggling about it and any who would outright refuse to use them based only on their original purpose ended up with a rusty barrel. Seems kinda silly doesn't it?

If you have no use for something like this then by all means, don't use it. But what good does it do anyone to point out the obvious original use and talk down to those who might re-purpose it to suit our hobby? I'm just saying, this isn't the first thread I've seen here where everyone got all worked up over a possible reference to pot.

ha ha you got yourself a plug weed grinder! Those are wooden specialist ones, basicly kids have plugs in their ears like:

And basicly you keep your weed in one of those, and put it in your ear, and the police are none the wiser.

other than that good find in regards to the flake!

Maybe not everyone, but worked up for sure.

But if it makes the man happy to rub out his flake in a little grinder, who cares?

OK, here is the deal. In February 1976 I was in the mountains of Lebanon doing good things for the defense department, which I can say no more about. I froze my ass off, more to the point my fingers. I now have arthritis in every finger and thumbs. I cannot roll anything in between my fingers for periods of time any more. Pain is my friend now and anything that would help me make my hobby a little nicer to do I think is a treat. Not being in the drug culture I snickered at the references at crunching "herb", under any name. I thought that this post would show something I liked and not to force anyone into some mind trick to make them buy one. As stated, it is a tool, that's it. You don't have to use a hammer to drive a nail, but it helps. You are right, it's my money and maybe someone else not in the drug culture, not knowing about such things, with hand issues would want to spend theirs too.

Sorry I pissed in someone coffee.

Sadly, you forced me via mind tricks, into wanting to buy one of those posters that has the Jolly Green Giant sitting on a toadstool getting high with a bunch of midgets.

I won one at a carnival in High School, and proudly displayed it in my room for about 2 days.

What is this "hammer" of which you speak? If you really can drive nails with it, it will really save my forehead. As long as it's not one of those dope smoker tools, that is.

Good God . It is a tool .If there is one thing I hate it is people dogging someone for thier methods ,thier pipe,or thier choice of tobacco . There are other pompus websites full of Mr Know it alls to address those topics . This became the number one pipes and tobacco web site because until of late we helped newer pipe smokers . Portascat little people scare me too .

Drat.. I knew I was in the wrong place. But at least I found a good tool to crush my homegrown Basil and Rosemary

"The fact is, squire, the moment a man takes to a pipe, he becomes a philosopher. It's the poor man's friend; it calms the mind, soothes the temper, and makes a man patient under difficulties. It has made more good men, good husbands, kind masters, indulgent fathers, than any other blessed thing on this universal earth."

You want A grinder? How about a real vintage cast iron tobacco grinder?

this discussion has been a real eye opener! I bought one of those things cuz the cute salesgirl said it was a 'personal butter maker'. I put milk in it and spun the hell out of it, but all i ever got was wet.
