Inspired by zonomo's post Thinking About Getting A Dog, I thought some members might want to share pics of their dogs (sorry cat lovers, you'll have to start your own post)
Anyway, I'll start. This is Cooper, a 3 year old cocker spaniel:

Beautiful dogs, funny how attached you can get. The old cajun
Great idea #6.
I thought about this last night, thanks for posting six! Best looking cocker spaniel I've ever seen!
My dog Roxy, the Shih-Tzu

My wife's dog Rosie, a Maltipoo (Maltese/Poodle mix)
I had a German shepherd that was my service dog I trained but he had cancer and had to be out down.
Here's my man Tramp, from this Xmas:
I love all of these dog pictures. I lost my devoted and noble Pit Bull. Henry, on 17 December, so it does my heart good to see these pics.

Sorry to hear it Joe. We lost two of our dogs (both cockers, one died at age 9, the other age 16) in 2012.
Cooper is a recent addition to the family.
Haha I have a cat and a dog, but my dog is my baby and my cat is an asshole. So this is Tofu, a blonde long coated chihuahua. She is my baby girl
Photo taken by me for a photography course. She is such a little model! Yeah yeah, I get weird about my dog, she is like family to me.
but my dog is my baby and my cat is an asshole.
Molly-warning my meat headed son-in-law to stay back--

Thanks for your kind words, Number Six. Henry was nearly fourteen and had been with us for thirteen years. He was a truly noble animal. I miss him like crazy.
And Mister Zombie, of course dogs are family. In fact, in my case, they are much to be preferred to certain family members!
Showing dog (or cat) pictures can be quite a challenge for space.
Here is one of my dogs. American Pit Bull Terrier bitch named Kat. Rescue dog, about 6 months old and 50 lb. in this picture (from this Christmas)

She loves me, cats, and kids. She is mischievous as hell, as well.
Here she is at about 5 months with my grandson.
Best looking cocker spaniel I've ever seen!
Thanks tj - appreciate it. He is a handsome dog. Very large for a cocker with huge paws.
Wilma and Betty out duck hunting.
Here is our French Bulldog, Sophie.

She is a very spoiled dog.

I'm 6'2" and 194 when I weighed myself this week. People don't expect to see me walking a Shih-Tzu. She's my best buddy, though. Even sits in my lap while I smoke my pipe.
Here is my best friend Cooper, American Pitbull Terrier. It was 15 months in the photo.

Kodiak (4 months old)
Greetings,
Here's Dottie. 3 years old. She's a Border Collie/Australian Cattle Dog Mix. Super smart. Maybe a little too smart at times, almost as if she knows what your thinking. She loves playing Frisbee and doing agility. Very toy motivated! Lots of fun. Extremely loyal. High energy, but I love the breed.

CACooper
Beautiful dog, CACooper. I have always wanted an Aussie, but I worry about being able to provide enough exercise and activities for one.
Thanks, Zonomo. "Dog people" get it about losing a dog: that you've lost your best friend and constant companion. Henry was a remarkable dog and I miss him every day.

I think it was Waylon Jennings who said "it takes a big man to own a small dog".
Sorry, I couldn't resist.
Some days you just have to relax. zelda here at her best.
LOL!!!! #6.. that's awesome!
dunringill: WOW, Kodiak is stunning... What kind of dog is that? I can't take my eyes off that pic...
Zonomo: Thanks. He's a Siberian Husky. The third Husky we've had. I love Huskys and just about every other breed of dog. Had one in my life for as long as I can remember.
This is my great frined and buddy, Bubba. An eight year old Pembroke Welsh Corgi.

His favorite position.
Man there are some beautiful puppies
Here's my baby

Im currently trying to talk my wife into rescuing and taking in this cute little guy... he has three legs as they had to remove one... of course my wife is correct that we are not in a place, financially, to take in another puppy... but good lord... tell me he's not cute!
What was the reason they had to remove the leg...do you know? It's amazing how they adapt and it's as if they still have all four.
Thanks Chris. They earn their keep on ducks and all the upland birds (pheasant, quail, ptarmigan, and grouse). That's why they get to sleep on the bed at night !
Cheers
Jeff
What was the reason they had to remove the leg...do you know? Not sure... they said his leg was dead and they were going to euthanize him, so this family saved him and paid for the operation... apparently he doesnt know the difference, they say he runs and plays with all the dogs at the dog park.
I keep telling my wife we need this dog so that it can pair up with my son, who also has one leg
I'll bet she didn't find any humor it that! But, you know how women are. Most women I've know weren't into animals. Personally, I prefer them myself. I like to tell non-animal folks with a slew of grand kids that kids are for people who can't have dogs.

I like to tell non-animal folks with a slew of grand kids that kids are for people who can't have dogs.... after 15 years of marriage, she pretty much is used to my sense of humor.. (off subject: this one time when my son was about 7 years old decided to talk back to my wife, of course she lit into him, anyways he had the audacity to say he was running away so my wife said fine go... as he turned to walk away I interjected and advised him to leave the leg.. it belonged to me since I paid for it.. the look on his face
yes I can be such an ass sometimes)

Oh - that sounds meant to be. Hope you can talk your wife into it. We've had many dogs over the years, including times we couldn't afford it - somehow it all works out. Good luck Cap'n.
My beagle mix with my son
This was Katie. She was an American Eskimo/Corgi mix that my ex-wife and I shared. She died and only 2 1/2 years old and it nearly killed me. She so loved life. I ordered her a head marker and she's buried at the ex's place. We stood over her grave and cried together. they'll break your heart as much as any human loss.
There were no digital cameras back then but I had a video camera and had some guys take the HI-8 tape and transfer to CD so I could make some hard copies.

they'll break your heart as much as any human loss.
That's the truth. I almost didn't want another dog after we lost our Husky Nala in 2010. She was family.
they'll break your heart as much as any human loss.oh I know all too well
I almost didn't want another dog after we lost our Husky NalaIt always happens this way... but then we go out and do it all over again and get heart broken when they leave us
@Colcot... I love that second picture of Katie, she looks very intelligent... I bet she was a great companion!
i was told by a therapist that the loss of a pet has the same emotional impact as the loss of a human to many people. the body's chemicals and mind sometimes cant distinguish the difference from someone (like a person or a pet) that loved you and that you loved.
Katie was a little fireball...loved to run and roll around on the ground. Like most, she had a "sweet spot" on her side that you could scratch and one of her hind legs would start kicking like she was trying to start a motorcycle. I got a real charge out of that. she's been gone eight years and I still miss her. Sometimes I wonder if it really pays to love anything. They always seem to leave you.
I think the impact of having lost her affected me more than the loss of some humans I've cared for. Maybe in part because she was so little and active and loved being alive and I knew all too well the finality of death. It's hard to explain in words.
It's hard to explain in wordswell thats the beauty... you dont need to. I (as others I assume) know exactly what you mean. No need to break your head trying to express it. I get it.
It is hard to lose a loved one, whether human or animal... but in the end we move on and those memories and feeling brought on by said loved ones is what makes us who we are... they add to us something that we would never of had if it wasnt for them. So even though "they" always seem to leave us... "they" also bring something invaluable to us... love! without it we just arent complete.
IMHO ... although we lose and have lost many loved ones in our life times... I wouldnt have it any other way... I cherish those memories and feelings more than all the money in the world. All my family members and animal companions that I have lost will live with me 'till the day its my turn to leave this world.
These were my little friends Precious was a long haired chihuahua
and itzzy was a miniture pincher
many moons ago when I lived in a little town.. a retired farmer moved in next door. big old boy, beat up red farm truck. he got a little chihuahua and that thing went everywhere with him in his coat pocket.
This is my kind of boy. I think we're kin.

This is my beautiful boy!
Good looking boy!! Reminds me of my first Samoyed.
Reminds me of my first Samoyed.
+1
Had one growing up. Smartest dog I ever knew.
The ONLY problem was the dog shed like crazy in summer. With the fans we had going on all over the house, dog hair (and I mean lot) was all over - even floating in the air! lol. It got in everything - food, clothes, you name it.
Still - great dog.
You don't want a Corgi for sure. Year round shedding. They say it's seasonal but to me that means four seasons. No matter, I still love them.
Glad there are a lot of animal lovers here, especially dogs. AS it has been said by many intelligent men "A merciful man is merciful to his beast".
I have two pit mix rescues. One a friend found and i took in, another i found in south philadelphia near a highway living in a small wooded area. She hates all other animals except my other dog.
they are quite a treasure.
Here is Laxsmi.

Here is Sita.

They are both around 8-10 years old.

My girl samantha out on the river in Colorado.
sjfine...
Coolin' your dogs??
Spooky my mini pit
