Picked up 8 estate pipes at an antique mall for $90. 7 Savinellis and 1 Stanwell Zebrano. I have the matching Zebrano unfiltered, so good pair. The Savinellis have me scratching my head a bit. 4 of them are stamped "Golden Rod" I guess referring to the alternating band of sparking black and gold. A search for Golden Rod turns up completely different results and yet to find a match. The other 3 all have what appears to be horn bands but not sure as I can't find a match for these either. All 8 of these pipes have been well used but none beyond restoration. Any details about these babies is much appreciated.

Thanks, Ron

@condor All you have to do is act fruity when you walk in the door. This basket of pipes was actually the very first thing as I walked in the door to my right. Didn't even close the door before I exclaimed "A basket of pipes!. That was fast.".
@puffy Hercules brings up some interesting results. Close but no cigar I'm afraid. I could find neither in Pipepdia.
@peck Thanks. Yes definite motivation to fire up the buffing wheels and make them shine, but not too much.
The other Savinellis I have are 90's or newer and none are stamped like these. Guessing 80's or older. Nice if it were 1880's... Oh well, off to the next mall to score a reamer and a flap. Ha!

The before and after photos on these will be spectacular. They looks so grungy now, but the underlying

materials look high quality.

Good score of pretty pipes, congrats!
I have a feeling that 'Golden Rod' isn't a Savinelli series at all, but a tobacconist or a similar company. I've had a couple of Savinellis that had he same "SAVINELLI PRODUCT" stamp plus a name of a tobacconist. A private marque of a pipe shop.

@jarit Maybe so. I do have one Savenelli that is as you describe with "Up In Smoke" pipe stamp but it is a Tortuga. Will look into that possibility for sure. Thanks.
