One the note of things that I will never have and pipes that are way out of my price range, I would never dream of paying this much for a pipe (Well, maybe I would if it was a birth year Dunhill), but I was snooping around on Smokingpipes.com and saw this Ser Jacopo Hawkbill. Everything about this pipe just screams good taste. Love the shape, love the color, love the grain, love the dimensions, this just looks like it would be the perfect pipe for me. I REALLY love the birdseye grain on the bottom. Simply gorgeous! Check it out.

I absolutely love the Ser Jacopo Picta pipes. I am fortunate enough to have a couple and they are stunning. Unfortunately I have never been able to look at a hawkbill shape since I heard someone refer to it as a "donkey's dick". Before that happened I quite liked the look of them.

It's a great pipe. 'Doesn't put me in mind of donkeys. Ser Jacopo makes some of the really fine Italian

pipes, and they are especially tempting now that they are on sale (with smokingpipes.com). I picked

off the only one in my budget, described as, "sinuous picta Miro Dublin." Eventually, I will get over the

shock and awe of "such a pipe" and actually smoke it. I'm working up to it. Actually, I sold a mountain

bike that had been parked in the living room for years. A pipe doesn't take up as much room, and I

know I'll use it a lot more. The Hawksbill is one of the more distinctive shapes; it would be a one-of-a-kind

to own. Nice band, too. I like that subtle, thin groove around the bowl. Just overall an artful design.

Pipenovelist, have you thought of divesting yourself of some of your mid-level pipes and sending them to

smokingpipes.com to sell as estates, using the credit toward this pipe, or selling some on ebay? I know

I'd have a hard time parting with my old favorites. All gift pipes are off limits. But fewer, better pipes

isn't a bad idea, if you have pipes you can part with. It could bring this within reach.

Damn, you guys really are enablers! LOL. Maybe in a few months I can get enough scratch together and see if it's still in stock. I don't see a lot of pipe makers that make the Hawkbill shape, and it'd be a nice shape to have in the collection. Of course, Id really like to add another Author shape with a smooth finish to the collection too. Oh, the PAD bug is a harsh mistress. :puffy:

Ten more days for the 40% off sale on Ser Jacopo pipes at smokingpipes.com. I broke for mine early and it is

first rate, described as "sinuous picta Miro bent Dublin." I'm hoping for years of satisfaction. It's a beaut.
