Starting to Get Obsessed

Excellent article. It comes close to a crucial point: why, if there is more real pollution out there, emitted in greater quantities than some guy smoking a cig or pipe (I'm talking about all vehicles, airliners, etc.) and if vehicles have killed more people than all wars combined, why single out smoking among all the ills to demonize? This is the disconnect in their argument that exposes that argument as a pretext. The pretext is designed to mask the real agenda. And, as Tate pointed out, it leads to a domino theory for the elimination of other rights involving individual choice, and perhaps beyond. This is the real issue here, I think, and it's not confined to smokers' rights. History shows that this is what happens when a nation is threatened by totalitarianism. The first scapegoat is used to get the people to approve the suppression or elimination of one group or class. Then, behind the mask of going after scapegoat number 1, they begin to add other targets. By the time you look around and realize the truth, it's too late, they're coming for you too.

Excellent post Eddie!
We have to start standing up for ourselves and others in all aspects of our freedom to choose and the pursuit of happiness. Whether we agree or disagree with their choices.
