PIPE SMOKING POTATO WINS PRIZE AT DALTON HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY SHOW
The Dalton Horticultural Society Show attracted healthy visitor numbers when it was held at the Drill Hall in Nelson Street on Saturday.
Keith Hardman, a member of the society, scooped first prize in the misshapen vegetable category for his delightful pipe-smoking potato. Mr Hardman, 66, of Chapel Street, Dalton, said: "We went through the doldrums a few years ago, but gradually there are signs it's picking up."
