Yeah...

I love Savinelli most of the time but sometimes, I am not so sure.

This is one of those times. I mean, I get it. But Why? Virgin finish pipes are usually not cheap, either $

Not sure how I feel about craters on my pipe. I do lie the combination of unfinished/unstained briar and white stem with red stripe, though. I'd be more interested in a regular Savinelli Unfinished with that stem, I think.
Well, at least they're commemorating a successful voyage unlike some other pipe manufacturers we know. :)

I don't like the lines of the bowl. If you're going to crater it, it should look more spherical, no? The way the rustication runs out onto the shank really ruins whatever effect they were going for. I'd like to see a design where the shank/stem comes in lower under a round bowl, and evokes the armature of an orrery.
Maybe they should have started with a blowfish?
Edit; spelling.

If it came as a 904 I'd buy one. Looks very tactiley interesting and I've always been fascinated by the moon.

They could have made a little more effort to make it resemble the moon more than a golf ball.

Smooth the general mare areas, put in the Tycho- and Copernicus craters for reference

and mark the Apollo 11 landing spot?

I think it is cool they have taken the time to recognize the second best day in human history. What was the first best day you ask? How about the day that Russia and the US decided not to nuke the entire planet during the Cuban missile crisis.

I'd probably give the second best day to Louis Pasteur, Alexander Fleming, or Jonas Salk. But the point is taken!

Yikes! That thing looks like a diseased gonad with the pox. Sorry, but as a carving job that really sucks. Pure amateur night.

Thank you. I got it done. I was one of those kids on Art Linkletter's House Party during the Crisis, and when Linkletter asked us kids what we would do if we were President I didn't waste any time with "giving everyone a free horsie" or "free Ice cream" like the other adorable little morons in the line up. I looked Linkletter straight in the eye and said, "I'd solve the Cuban missile crisis!"
And it got solved. So once again, thank you!

It just feels very rushed and dare I say... cheap.

I think the idea is killer, execution is sorely lacking. Can you image a Walt Cannoy Moon pipe? *drool*

ps, thanks Jesse... for saving the World and all... :)
