   Does anyone know if these are sister companies?? Is it one man/family operating two different companies??

   It is definitely two different companies. Both are long established firms.
   In a nutshell - Samuel Gawith set up the company which bears his name. Samuel Jr. took it over. Sam Jr's younger brother set up G&H.
