Nice!!
S&R make great pipes but are under appreciated in the pipe world. They used to sell their pipes at craft shows so I think that hurt their reputation a bit as not being serious pipe makers. Steve was incredibly anal on his engineering, even the full bent pipes you can get a cleaner through. Sadly, he is no longer with us but Roswitha is still making pipes. She sold her shop (Pipes & Pleasures) recently but is still around helping out and what not. She seems a lot more relaxed! Steve was inducted into that French pipe guild so you know he had some skill.
I've got seven of their smaller pipes that I still smoke. Their briar is all 40+ year old Grecian and Algerian briar. They used to sink their profits into briar when they were really getting going back in the mid 60's and even helped Cooke out by trading bags of briar for some finished pipes which they sold in their store. I worked there for a few years back in the late 90's. Good times.
