I get that taste as well. I also get a strong, but quite pleasant smoked cheese taste. Like good quality, room temperature cheese. That dairy, creamy smoky taste. I really like it, but yeah, definitely get the salt in this one.
I cannot say I noticed any sort of salt or briny taste in mine. I found my Latakia flake smooth, cool, and tasty, somewhat like other MacBaren cased blends. I burned through the tin in less than a month, which is quick for me given the number of blends I have in rotation. I will have to get more.
Does it have much "tobacco" smell? I prefer a straight campfire (Gaslight) to something with a mix (Ten Russians).

I smoked three other Lat blends since this post and didn't get any salty flavors from them.
Also, MacBaren makes my favorite smoke, ODF, so it's not the norm.
HH LF is a tasty smoke, no doubt, just never had the salt flavor hit me so strong before!
