A terrific and versatile actor, specialising in period characters, Powers Boothe, very much like Raymond Burr, was best known for playing villains, although, unlike Burr, his bad guys were played having a sense of humour...distinctive, if disturbing; but, given an heroic role, even a romantic lead, he'd pull it off with aplomb.
He seemed to gravitate toward imaginative and often eccentric projects, the kind that push the entertainment industry into new and exciting directions, and he was very good in them.
A subtle and generally underrated talent, he will be greatly missed. I know I shall miss him and his fine work.
He was 68.
Requiescat in Pace, Powers.
