I bought a couple of shaped bowls with the tobacco chamber pre drilled, and a couple of stems from ebay and using my drill press I finished them up, sorta. Being my first try they aren't perfect, but they both smoke very good and I can try again when I want. When I inserted the derlin tenon in the forst pipe I expanded the end slightly, and the shank cracked after a inserted the stem a few times. So I used a sander and altered the stem, and added a silver band. I included a picture of how I received the briar.

Looks really nice, I was thinking about starting to do the same, though I want to carve one from a blank from start. We will see, I say I want to do alot that never happens.
