Dear all,
I have been gifted a box of old pipes, some older than 30 years. Unfortunately they have been stored in a way so mold has grown on the cake inside the pipes, and to some extent on the outside. My question is, is it possible restore moldy pipes or are they ruined by the mold?
Its a nice collection of pipes containing among others a Comoy 215 "Castleton", a Dunhill Billard F/T Shell grp.3 and a (Comoy) "Selected straight Grain". If its still possible to restore them i will have it done by an expert.
Thanks for your replies.

Yes mate, they can be restored. I would normally do it myself here at home. If you are going to send them away to have them professionally done, all the better yet.

Definitely get them cleaned... if your not going to do it yourself then I would send them out.

just those few you listed makes it all well worth it.

I restored a sandblast that had mold on the outside. 48 hours of 99% alcohol bath, then scrubbed it thoroughly with Murray's Wood Soap and a tooth brush. Even though I had to refinish it after this the pipe came out like new. No smell or taste whatsoever. So, yes it can be done.
