Repainting a Kaywoodie White Briar

I fount this pipe on ebay but it needs TLC. Could I repaint it, would I need special paint? I have decided that I want many of these white briar pipes.

You'd be depriving it of its character and history, IMO.

I had some luck re-finishing several white briars with an enamel with hardener added and a bit of water.
