A Vauen, I'm amazed. I associate the German and Dutch craftsmen with perfectionism. I was recently gifted with an Austrian pipe, a Kemberling; smooth finish looks perfect.

If you ever run into that again, acetone will remove most lacquers without the need for sanding.
