I just got an email confirmation from Todd at McCranie’s:
“Yes. Flue-cured (Virginia) is not processed the way it used to be. To make a long story short… it all comes out the same now. So there is no variation… good-bad, red-yellow, etc. It’s all bad and yellow. We keep searching, but it doesn’t look good. We have a good supply of the current crop at the moment.

Thanks,

Todd”

Isn't McCranie manufactured by McClelland?
Sure tastes like it. But the crop is chosen by McCrainie's and probably processed and tinned by McClelland.
I wonder what needs to be done to fix the poor curing techniques.
What's needed to s financial incentive to do so. If there isn't sufficient demand (think cigarette companies) then there's no incentive to do this.
I'm SO happy that I cellared.
