Just curious. What's everyone's 'go to' tobacco when it seems like the world is out to get you?
Today I was hauling some horses for a day of training and fun. But the facility is located in a valley. To get there, you have to go up a steep gravel road and down the far side. Well...when it's packed with snow, and we get fresh snow, that road turns into a skating rink. I had a 'borrowed' horse trailer - huge - with a couple horses in it. We got 1/2 way up the hill and spun out. I was already in 4wd with lots of weight in the box (i.e. The trailer). The road is built on a hill, so sliding backwards results in going over the cliff, or into the hill itself. Needless to say, I had to call for a tractor to come and get me. = crappy part of the day. Only good part was I had an unopened box from 4 noggins with me...and I had to wait a while.
Then when I got home and was cranking the trailer up, the jack shaft broke, and, with the amount of force I had on the handle, I narrowly averted punching myself in the face as I was flying backwards into a snowdrift.
    Beer time.

Peterson Irish Oak, it's a good smooth flavor with enough nic to put me on my ass, good way to force myself to relax and stop running and worrying a bit

Life sucks sometimes Son, but just the fact you can drink a beer and smoke a good bowl makes it good, if you didn"t have some Bad, how would you tell the Good? The old cajun

Pretzel logic, Bradley -- but I like it -- makes perfect sense to me.

Now where's my Steely Dan album?

+ 1000 I have to be reminded of that lesson all too often but it's a good one.

My go-to right now is McClelland Holiday Cheer or EMP depending on the pipe in the rotation. That, along with a bit of homebrew, really smooths out a rough day.

Good points. I'm actually laughing about it now. Although the neighbors for miles probably heard me cursing a few hours ago!

I like a bowl of Larry's Blend at the end of a long day.

Nightcap...Dunhill right? Will have to get that in the next TAD order. And make sure to have on hand for the next vehicular malfunction!

Wow, it sounds like you had a challenging day! Hauling horses can be tricky this time of year. You deserve a pipe and a pint for sure. When things go wrong you need a blend that requires little effort to smoke and has a soothing taste/smell. For these times you have several blends to choose from. Autumn Evening is one of those. I also like Town Topic (basically McLelland's version of AE), Carter Hall, Frog Morton on the Town, or even Butternut Burley. The drink of choice in such an emergency would be Jack Daniels, Dickle, Canadian Club Reserve, or Pendleton...neat.

This is nice. Very well stated. Pearls of wisdom indeed.
