Ran across something on social media that said Rattray's will be doing the blending for Peterson now and will be changing the names of the blends. Anyone know for certain if this is true?

Since Rattrays hasn't manufactured their own tobacco for some years now, I would find this rumor to be without merit.

I was also apprehensive about believing it because well a it was on the internet lol and b I'm pretty sure I remember Peterson just changing from K&K to Mac Baren a year or two ago.

Rattray is blended by K&K. These new blends appear to be the blends they used to blend for Peterson under a different branding.

So it's more than likely that Peterson is still using Mac Baren for their blending and Rattray's is having K&K make similar blends to Peterson's line with different names?

I dont understand why a tobacco production company doesn't have the equipment to make a certain type of tobacco. Seems like a hole in the business model.

So to clarify, Mac Baren is still making Peterson's blends and they'll continue to be produced in their regular tins under their regular names.
This is just K&K using the recipes and expanding their line of Rattray's blends by incorporating the blends they used to make for Peterson into it.
Correct?

I believe K&K made the whole line (flakes included) before Peterson went to MacBaren.
If K&K did not have the capability of making flakes, how did they make Marlin Flake and how are they now producing three new flakes?

The question I've yet to see answered is: how do the Rattray and current Peterson versions differ? I like both Irish Whiskey and Irish Flake, and would love to start buying the best incarnation out there. Anybody tried Stirling Flake next to Irish Flake??

Arno answers the question here,

in the same link provided by Junkyarddawg,

The flakes are made by STG/Orlik.
Per Georg Jensen of Mac Baren Tobacco has confirmed that MB do not make the flakes,

That seems to be correct.
I wish Rattray would offer an Stirling Plug version,

that'd be cool.

That would be cool mlc, as the suspected Ilsted version seems impossible to find (online anyway).

yeah,

I think it's out of production, sadly.

I never got to try it!

:crying:
The suspected Uni Flake version still seems to be available, probably only remaining stock I'd suspect and after its all sold out it'll be no more too, shame they never tried to market that stuff over here...
