I had togo to town yesterday and stoped at the pipe shop. I was looking through the drawer of estates and came across a Radice Silk Cut full bent Bulldog. It was a nice looking pipe. I really liked the look and feel. It had been smoked and loved very well, but not in bad shape at all. I should have bought it, but I was in a hurry and was not able to talk shop for long. It will still be there.

I need another pipe like I do a hole in the head, but can any of you Radice lovers sway me. It was marked over 100 clams, but me and the owner go way back so it was offered under his asking price, for what it's worth.

If you can get a Radice silk for under 100$, jump on it. The old cajun

My Radice Rind is a real work horse. Never had a bad smoke with it. Buy it.

I have two Radices that I thoroughly enjoy. I'm particularly partial to the "Underwood" finish -- much like the "New Dear" from Ascorti -- and I've found the craftsmanship to be outstanding. If you like the pipe, I don't think you can go wrong with a Radice.

I have a Radice Rind hawkbill that smokes so well I went ahead and bought another one -- an Underwood that smokes superbly too!

I have owned half a dozen Radice's in the past and everyone was a great smoker, they are very consistent and for under 100.00, it is a bargain. I would jump on it.

Be there when they open on Wednesday and grab it. If it's in good shape, a Radice for $100 is a very good buy.

Not quite a silk cut, but if you like a bulldog shape, you may like this pipe I found on eBay.

One good thing about having a lot of pipes, your wife doesn't notice when you get a new one.

    happyjacks:

So. . . did you end up getting the pipe? If so, have you had a chance to try it out yet?

BTW, when you mentioned going through "a drawer of estates" at the shop, it called to mind an image of what I think is one of the best pipe shops I've ever visited: Jon's Pipe Shop in Champaign, IL. If that's your shop too, I don't want to hear how great the pipe is -- since I won't have a shot at it!

And not to get off-topic here, but if anyone ever has a chance to visit Jon's, you will be absolutely blown away by the huge selection of estate and new pipes that are crammed into a tiny place. The guys behind the counter are a joy to talk pipes with, and their stock can keep you busy for hours. (They also have the best tinned tobacco selection I've seen outside of an Internet retailer.) It's midway between where I live in Michigan and my family in southern Illinois, so I don't get there often. . . but it is truly a destination shop.

I have to Radices and they are both very good smokers and the pipe's engineering is very good, (draft hole size, draft hole drilling in the center and a the bottom of the heel). I highly recommend the radice pipe and I believe that it is underated.

    Go for it!

Don't worry rothnh, I picked the pipe up the other day along with a nice coral dot era Ser Jacopo blast.
I have really put this Radice through the wringer, trying to see if it's worth it's salt. I have thrown the best at it, and it just keeps smoking along perfectly.

Good job everyone. This won't be the last Radice I buy.

I own 3 brand new Radice. They were worth every penny new and are some of my favorite pipes in my collection. My Radice Silk Cut GG brings out flavors in tobacco that I my other pipes do not.
