    Good Day All;

    I thought some of you might find this interesting. I asked Rad Davis to make a pipe for me. I gave him a single photo of the pipe I was looking for. I offered some dimmension criteria. I asked Rad to take some photo's along the way and the pipe is now completed and tomorrow will be shipped to me.

    Enjoy

    Wow, congratulations. He hit that one out of the park! The blast, cumberland stem and a half saddle to boot? What a commission. Was the half-saddle part of your request or Rad's creativity? I don't always appreciate Rads shape choices (there's no question of the craftsmanship) but that one just floors me.

    Good Day All;

    Thanks for the kind words. I am excited to get this pipe in hand.

    Al the original shape did have a half saddle stem. The original picture I sent Rad, was of a Poul Ilsted shape. I really like Ilsted's shapes and have owned a few of his pipes, but to be honest, I find his stems at the button to be very thick and un comfortable. I just couldn't bring myself to re shape the buttons to fit my comfort. This way I get a great pipe, in a shape i like allot and it will come with a world class stem.

    Mike, that pipe is gorgeous, congrats on getting a wonderful addition to your collection. I totally understand your desire for the most comfortable stems I have ever smoked. That blast is a unique one, it is the first time I have seen that type of layering on a Rad pipe, I am totally jealous. Thanks for showing the process of how it was made, that was totally cool.

    Congratulations on your new pipe and also for the pictorial history. It was cool to see the product develop from raw material to the finish by steps.

    Mike, if I ask Rad to make one of these for me (albeit I would choose a different stain - just to keep it different), do I just have to say:" Rad, give me the Briar Blues pipe? "

    I ordered one of these today from Rad. Said I wanted the Briar Blues Pipe. I went with a different stain color though (don't want to mow Mike's grass)

    Mike:

    Thanks for the sequence of photos from Rad making your custom pipe. I have two light brown sandblasts and one black sandblast Rad Davis pipe. I like your color the best since it looks like a dark brown sandblast which I have not seen from Rad before. Enjoy your new commissioned pipe it is looker!
