I have a Sav that takes filters. I have never been one to use a filter and when I recieved it in the perchase it came with an insert. Is it really needed? I have smoked with the insert and with out and I cant see any difference, other than something else to clean.

Nope. Ya don't need them. Just makes the draw more wide open without them. If the draw is to open, take a 2 or 3 inch piece of pipe cleaner and bend it and stick it in the tenon a bit. That will lessen the draw somewhat.

I use the insert, as deposits can build up in that empty space and be difficult to clean out. It you install the insert and heat it a little, it will be imbedded in the stem, and clean just like a non-filtered stem.

"How can you burn it out? I am a heavy puffer from being an ex nail smoker, but I have been able to control it so I sip more often now"
Well you're an expert, so what's the reason for your question?
