I've long admired Will Purdy's work. I also like bamboo shanked pipes. So here's what I picked up today.

Sablebrush:
I don't know Will Purdy's body of work, but I like billiards - both traditional and otherwise - and I like bamboo.
That new burner of yours kills.
Even if it smokes half as good as it looks, then you'd better be a happy camper.
That's a good get, man.

Wow. Very nice.
I am not a fan of you straight pipe but it seems most bamboo stemmed pipes are straight. This is just another fine example. Between this and the many that fishbanjo has posted I may have to revisit my aversion to straight pipes.

Congratulations on your new pipe. An excellent Christmas gift. His pipes always always sell out quickly.

Beautiful. I was scoping this one out and actually had intended to bid, but then became immersed in building a hockey net we are giving to my son for Christmas. It was worse than building Ikea furniture.

Very nice Purdy piece. I especially like the contrast-stained, straight angel-hair grain, and the bird's eye at the base of the bowl. The bamboo ties it all together. Congrats.

Being a serious bamboo fanatic, great score! Enjoy it for many, many years, beautifully grained too.

A total stunner, I dig the thick walls too.
No doubt it'll be a superb performer, Purdy is known for his meticulous skills,

the stem looks incredible, as well as comfortable, the small detail of the notch

on top adds beauty too, keeping a natural organic flow by matching the bamboo.
I'd call it a Liverpool, one of my fave shapes!
Enjoy it well!

That's a real beauty, Jesse; congratulations. I have two of Will's pipes and love them both. Physically beautiful, perfectly engineered, superb smokers, and made by one of the nicest guys in a hobby filled with nice guys. What the heck else could you want?

I've wanted a Will Purdy pipe since I saw him at the Chicago show in 2007 or so. His work is highly original, which you can't say about lots of carvers. Not being a bamboo fan, that wouldn't be my choice, but I'm sure it'll be a great smoker, and the quality is unmistakable.
