What a great cosmopolitan addition to the sponsorship. The pipes on the site are awe inspiring,
ready for the Museum of Modern Art, every one. Forums is so educational; I will now go Google
the AUS/USD exchange rate. Welcome to Pipes Down Under.

Nice pipes on that site -- all artisan pipes from what I can tell -- at fair prices. I was looking at a Briar Bird selling for just over $200US.

    Welcome to the site PDU.

I was also looking at the Briar Bird Roth. An OH boy making pipes for an Aussie outfit. Ya just gotta love it

Always great to see a new sponsor -- and they have a great selection of pipes!

    Awesome!

Maybe you guys can tell me if this recipe for Kookaburra is any good.

    1 Kookaburra cleaned and jointed
    5 Irish potatoes
    3 Carrots sliced
    1 Large Yellow Onion
Garlic, Salt, and Pepper to taste
    Water
    1 Large River Rock

Add all ingredients into a large pot
Cover ingredients with water (add water as necessary)
Simmer until River Rock is tender

Discard the bird and vegetables, then eat the Rock.

    Welcome aboard Pipes Downunder!

    Hey Everyone,

    Jake from PDU here!

Thanks for all the kind words and warm welcome. I'm pretty excited to be offering all these great pipes!

Talking about great pipes.. I just uploaded a few new Eric Gainey pipes.

Haven't eaten a Kookaburra before but now you have me curious!

I'm working on some new photography for the website. Any feedback on these?

    Thanks gentlemen!

EDIT: Sorry everyone, I removed the coding that embeds the image. I forgot to resize them and they were enormous!

I like the first image, but the second doesn't quite do it for me. Reason is: In the first, the focus is on the pipe. It's crisp and clear and pretty, and we can all still tell it's a tin of FMOTT behind it. The second one seemed to focus on the tin. Because the pipe and tin are closer, the pipe is still mostly in focus, but some edges just aren't as clear as I'd prefer. If you are using either of these as a centerpiece image, go with the first one. Pipe>Tin (at least for the sake of your site....I feel like a large philosophical discussion can come out of that statement otherwise! Chicken vs. Egg anyone?)

I like both photos, but agree with Undercagon -- the pipe needs to be the star. That said, either photo will work best as on of a series of photos featuring (and crisply displaying) the pipe from different angles.
