The old thread is missing so many pics and I am still debating the finish for my bespoke Ashton pipe, so please show off yours.

Me love Ashton pipes but me can't afford Ashton pipes........Ferndown too

If you shop around, Ferndown can be had for under 200.00. A bark pipe from James Barber is around 175.00 shipped. If you buy two pipes you save on shipping cost and pay less overall.

Before shipping a 3* bark would be 152.00 then shipping is around 20.00 so after shipping the total was 171.97

And,

here's a true oddball...
(it ain't mine, only discovered while browsing)
...in a discussion about a bizarre copper-covered Dunhill, I posted pix of an equally bizarre silver-bitted dunhill:

It was apparently a factory option - - -
I later found an Ashton done up the very same way:

Not really surprising given that Bill Taylor had once worked for Dunhill, but still a very rarely seen treatment.

Ashtons and Ferndowns are the pipes I look at on the retail estate pages. If I were in the market for an Ashton, I'd go for a blast, but many smooths are appealing too. I like that they are artisan pipes with Dunhill expertise behind them. They are less pretentious than Dunhills but equally coveted by pipe men and women, and not as expensive in general.

ssjones, The 93 Old Church is amazing. I really like how the blast pattern flows from the start of the stem to the top of the bowl.

The smooths are beautiful, but the blasts just have more of an Ashton aura for me. They have their own thing going.

My only complaint about Ashtons is their inconsistent and sometimes sloppy stem work.

But maybe its a results of pumping out so many pipes!

guyrox, that Old Church is one of the best I've seen. Just gorgeous.
clickklick, I'll second that. The billiard below is from 1985 and the stem is amazing. The army mount is from 2012 and I had to rework the stem myself -- it was SO thick when I got it. I've seen many Ashtons over the years, especially newer ones, that I just couldn't buy because I knew I wouldn't be happy with the stem. Which is a real shame because otherwise they're great pipes.

I only have two, and I love them. Both Pebble Grains from 2013. The Lovat is a "XX" @ 28 grams, and the Canadian is a "XXX", and weighs in at 33 grams. I bought these from Gary Schrier, via e-bay.......... Great smokers, and I can find no flaws, I will be adding more at some point!!..................... :D
