Need advice on cleaning plateau on rim of bowl.

Toothbrush with saliva or coffee (the Jesse Silver Method tm).

^^^ That toothbrush method is the only way I know of to clean them up. A nice, old, well-used one ought to be just right.

Great thread.
I've only got one pipe with a plateau top/rim, my Nording Freehan. The only new pipe in my collection. Well, it was new back in 1987 when I got it

I've been wondering how to clean er up, now I know!

I usually go ahead and stain my plateau rims black. Looks good and no worries from thence on !
