A wild guess on the time would be six hours steady. The wooden part of the stem is cherry boiled and bent after drilling and shaping. All the staining was done with steel wool dissolved in vinegar. Finished off with carnauba wax.
Well... If pipes are hobbit forming then call me Mr. Baggins!
