I know that vulcanite is rubber. I know that acrylic and lucite are the same and that these terms really mean plastic. But what is ebonite? Cumberland?

Ebonite is also rubber, really all these "rubber" pipe stems are vulcanized rubber. We refer to "ebonite" when we talk about an extruded rod of the stuff, and "vulcanite" as the powdered stuff they melt and inject to make most pipe stems.

Cumberland is vulcanized rubber rod with red/black swirl through it.

Sas, great info, I never knew the differences, all I knew was that they were all rubber.
