Hey everyone, I'm a carpenter and have been for ten plus years. I'm currently out of work. I'm considering building a few pipe stands and maybe some pipe and tobacco cabinets. If anyone would be interested in a custom stand or cabinet let me know. I have built custom cabinets for high end homes. I have also have does a great number of custom projects including armorers, Jewelry boxes, humidors. I will try to get a stand built and get a picture up. Would be willing to do custom orders and builds, just get with me and we can work out details. I am also currently trying to improve my pipe carving capabilities, but that with be a different post.

    Hello sapo59.

I remember a comment you left at my blog about wanting to do something along these lines, and I think it's a terrific idea. You probably already know about The Two Cousins, pipe-rack makers extraordinaire. If you can make pipe racks of that calibre with your own distinctive style you could find yourself with a lot of orders.

I would love to see what you come up with. Personally I would appreciate having more of a selection of pipe racks to choose from -- I think it's an undervalued and underappreciated part of our hobby. Tampers and lighters have their fans, and I think it's time the pipe rack came into its own.

I don't have the funds right now to commission anything from you, but if and when I'm flush with cash... who knows? I'm definitely going to need more pipe racks as my pipe collection continues to grow.

The short of it is, I encourage you to go for it. Two Cousins have made a name for themselves making pipe racks, and so can you. There are a lot of artisans making pipes right now, and it's very competitive. There aren't that many pipe rack makers that I'm aware of.

There's nothing quite like tobacco: it's the passion of decent folk, and whoever lives without tobacco doesn't deserve to live.

    Sapo...

Show & Tell time... oh, please include a price list!

One of my friends at work is building me a "serving tray" for my tobaccos with a small pipe section out of an OLD White Oak Pallet... He's a cupboard/cabinet maker by trade...

I'm definitely in the market too. I'm still considering what features I'd like a rack to have. One is elbow room for the bowls; several of my pipes are just too wide (uh, let that read: some of my racks are too cramped.)

Wall mount... 18" tall, 12" wide, each shelf 6" a part, 6 pipes each shelf, holes not divits for the stems, old rustic OAK (cheap supply, oak pallets) Waxed not varnished... There's one style...

I've got alot of ideas in mind and will build one for pics to post. The prices would have to go by materials used. I will try to make them affordable, I for one know what it is like to be on a budget. I'd also like the ones I make to be able to accommodate larger or regular bowl pipes. Cortezattic think about what else you would like in a rack and let me know, maybe we can work something out.

    Sapo,

I'll pay you fifty cents an hour, max time allotted is one hour, but I'll pay your federal tax on the money that you make from me, the one hour, so there for you owe me... $20.00...

    Sound familiar?

Yes it does. Glad to see many of you interested, I will try to get something together and post pics. I will probably do a small 12 pipe cabinet and a eight pipe stand.

It would be nice if it could hold about eight Mccelland cans and hang on the wall .I am with phil holes for the stems and maybe a some way to hold pipe cleaners .

I took a few drafting classes in college but my drawings remain simple at best, basically just measurements and details. I have good visionary ability.

I wish there was somebody in the UK like you. All the good pipe racks/cabinets that I have seen come from the US. The unfortunate thing is that the shipping to the UK almost doubles the price!
