I got my first home PC eleven years ago.Once I learned a little of how to use it I started looking for discussions on pipe smoking.I didn't find very much.I started reading something like a news letter called Pipes Digest it was on Pipes.org.I even posted there a few times. From that I learned of a usenet group I posted there for several years. There probably were more places but I wasn't aware of them.Things sure are different now.So many places online with discussions going on.Who even knows how many blogs there are.Places of general information.Tobacco reviews Utube I don't know anything about.Facebook and Twitter. How does a person even begin to have that much time.Let me end this rambling by saying that this is always my first and favorite stop on the net.

It's hard to keep up with all the different forums, for sure. I've dedicated my time here for various and obvious reasons. I do try to check in on the other places from time to time, however. Some forums tend to be a little better for finding some information just for the plain fact that they've been around for so long. PM.com is easily gaining a lot of that information as they start to cross over.

Come over to http://www.PipeChat.info and join us. It is a very active Forum and I know you will recognize many of the members that used to be on my-pipes. I also enjoy this Forum very much, too. I must divide my limited time between the two Forums.

Thanks for the invite Capt'n Bob (if it extended to those of us possessed of mammaries in lieu of testes), but this place has a certain something that all the ohers are lacking imo, and unless there was an en massse shift (which would never happen), they'll never be a patch on PM as far as I can see.

The people are what maketh a forum and, to my mind, this one is heads and shoulders above all else for knowledge, information, usually tolerance, and more than a decent dash of FUN & FRIVOLITY thrown in, something I see very, very little of, if any, in some of the other forums. A lot of us here just wouldn't do all "formal and stiff" very well at all

No offense CaptainBob, but it's somewhat bad form to post links to other forums, but we'll let it go as I know StrongIrish is a mod over there and he's a friend.

If I posted a link here from another forum, it would probably be pounced on rather quickly, but we've got so big over here that I'll leave it alone.

Note: That doesn't mean this thread can turn into a free-for-all for posting links to other forums. PipeChat's getting a one-time pass, as I'm trying to be a nice guy as I still feel bad for hurting Bruno's feelings.

I recently registered at Brothers of Briar, just for the heck of it. Haven't read one post, or made one post. I think more than anything, I just like the name

Hi, I am the am an Senior Moerator over at PipeChat.info as well as being a member of this forum as well. I appreciate your sentiments Kevin but for the record, I have a permanent link to your forum and magaine on the PipeChat.info site as I don't consider us in competition with each other. I think your site is very informative with great articles and I urge my members to come over to your forum. I run the site but I belong to many other pipe forums as well, we need to band together and not be against each other as pipers. So no threat from us to this forum. Our sites can be friends as well as you and I personally Kevin.

I agree with Kevin and StrongIrish!!!

Although I pretty much only log on to PM.com, I understand that we each have our preferences... we piper's need to stick together no matter what forum you like, what kind of tobacco you prefer or what brand of pipe you smoke.....

The anti's have already done a pretty good job of segmenting the tobacco users, the ol' "divide and conquer" theory..... We don't need to make it any easier for them to start gaining ground onto our "pipe turf"!!

Unfortunately because of the work I do I have to keep up with facebook, twitter, youtube, etc, but I spend the most time on this forum. One of the things I like about Pipesmagizine.com has just been exemplified by Kevin, respect for one another. I can't say anything about other pipe forums because I haven't really done more than glance at them, but I have been on forums where this is not the case. I really appreciate the tone Kevin sets on this one.

I am no longer on PipeChat. I had difficulty understanding "Topic Moderation" over there. I have never had a problem here. And, I am honored to be here. This is an excellent forum and I have followed it for a very long time. Congratulations on not being "clicky" and not practicing "arrogance". The Moderation I have seen on this forum is "intelligent" and "democratic". It seems to work out quite well over here.

Very glad to see you back Captain Bob, this is one of the friendliest and informative forums with caring, helpful and good humored members from many corners of the world, I know that the majority of members are USA based but I have always been welcome (English) as I know all other foreign members feel the same.

Just took a quick look at PC.com eh not bad but not my cup of tea. I did like the breakdown in some of the pipegroups and tobacco groups, in my opinion the chaos we have here is good. Some people like structure and PC.com has more than I like. Both sites are very informitive. It all realy comes down to different stroked for different folks, and I hope both sites progress builds in the future. And its true pipe smokers do need to stick together considering the governments attempts to smash our freedom of smoking.

If you can't pack it, light it, and smoke it then why do it. It's a dieing art that must be rekindled in all of us as fortold by our forefathers.

Words to live by for all pipe smokers.

Thank you all for the kind words. I was a member of My-Pipes.net for several years and subscribed to only that Forum. But, that Forum was discontinued. Very sad, indeed. I was invited to join the PipeChat Forum. I was feeling pretty good about the welcome. However, the Mods over there gave me a very uncomfortable feeling. Then, I stumbled on an older Topic created before I subscribed to their Forum. It had very negative comments about me and my C&D blends. Rather than take offense, I just took it in stride. But, the Moderator's got on my nerves. Therefore, I abandoned ship for good. They seem quite content to have their regulars. Not so sure that they are really welcoming new subscribers based on my experience. Then again, maybe I am just a very bad guy?

I do firmly believe that we must band together for the protection of our personal freedom to smoke our pipes without persecution. This Forum has been very comfortable for me thus far and I intend to make it my home. It is unique, comprehensive, friendly and extremely professional.

Now where can I get some Pot O' Gold

This is the only site I am active on. I was given such a warm greeting and receptive responses to my posts, I had no reason to look elsewhere. Some may call it closed minded, I call it comfortable and content.

This Forum is so cool! Thanks again, for the kind words and re-welcome. You all are great. It is fantastic to have a lady in our midst! I am truly honored, Cyndi!

Mick, in answer to your question, there are two ways to get "Captain Bob's Pot O' Gold Mixture". The easiest, is to call C&D and order it by name. The second, is to request your favorite e-tailer or B&M - C&D Dealer to order it for you. The choice is yours.
