There were a lot of popular blends that were not on the list or only received like one vote. Penzance had 4 votes. Balkan Blue/Blue Mountain only got one vote as well. 90% of the people listed tobacco's they tried for the first time in 2014 which is why some blends didn't score high or even make the list.

Great compilation! With my reception of the box pass, I have tried all but 3 of the top tobaccos and have tins of most of the other 14 cellared.
Thank you for your time on this!!

Very cool, metalhead!
I was expecting some music during the final roll though ... even turned down my Pantera to listen! :)
I've tried all on the list except Sixpence and 3 Oaks Syrian.
A great order form right there ... won't go wrong trying any of those.
Surprises for me were:
1. No Penzance... interesting that Stonehaven did make it

2. No Aro's at all ... not even Yucko Dough Clay!
Thanks for taking the time ... Rock on! :puffy:

LOL... I thought about adding music to the end but YT freaks out about stuff like that. I always get crap the the music in my intro, so I just left it out. There were definitely some surprises in there and a ton of tobacco's that I had never even heard of. I've got a great shopping list now though.

I can't believe Balkan Blue (Blue Mountain...still prefer the old name) only got one vote! It's an amazing tobacco. Great list though. You had to put a lot of time into it. I'm impressed :)

Thanks for sharing the results.
I wonder, though, if this is really a "Top Tobaccos for 2014" list...
In this thread http://pipesmagazine.com/forums/topic/top-10-tobaccos-from-2014 Which I'm assuming was the one you used poll us here, you stated:

What are your favorite tobacco's you tried from 2014. Here is a list of my Top 10 Tobaccos that I tried for the first time this year. This is not my "all-time" list but just the best I tried from 2014.
So I wonder if instead of a "Top Tobaccos for 2014" if what you really got was, "Favourite New Tobaccos of 2014"? Perhaps a hybrid? The question I answered in your poll was my Top 10(ish) tobaccos tried for the first time in 2014.
Given how the question was asked, I'm not surprised that Penzance didn't make the list. It has been around for a long time, and it is hard to find. Many of us likely tried it before 2014, and just as many new smokers might have had a hard time finding it. In the same scenario, it's no surprise to me that Gaslight and HH Latakia Flake are the top two. Gaslight was introduced in late 2013, so a lot of folks tried it for the first time in 2014. Latakia Flake was launched at the 2014 Chicago Pipe Show and it launched in tobacconists very shortly thereafter, also ensuring lots of first time trial in 2014.
Regardless of what the poll is actually measuring, it is interesting to see what folks liked smoking. Thanks for pulling it together.
Cheers,
-- Pat

Looks like I'm a 4 vote kinda of guy... Got a lot of those in the cellar. I am happy to know that my top 3 were in the top 10 and sad that they will become that much more desirable to everyone else.
