I've got a birthday coming up later this month and the girlfriend and my parents have agreed to get me a pipe. I have a Sav 320 EX Baronet Bruyere pipe that I absolutely love, a pipe that is almost perfect in every way. I love the pipe so much that I am thinking about springing for another Savinelli that might be even more perfect. Its their Hercules line, Rhodesian shape. Tell me what you guys think:

    Savinelli Hercules 510 EX

I was also looking at another one from the Baronet Bruyere line, almost the same pipe that I have except it is also the Rhodesian shape:

    Savinelli Baronet Bruyere 510 EX

I like the finish on the Hercules a little better, but the chamber on the Baronet is just the tiniest smidge bigger (like barely noticeable) and is 20 bucks cheaper. Anyone have any experience with one being better over the other? In any case, Im looking forward to this birthday!

I don't think there'll be much perceivable difference between the two. I like that both have rubber stems versus the more common plastic stem on most Italian pipes now.

If I were to pick one, I too like the finish on the Hercules better -- but I'd probably go with the Baronet = with the $20 to spend on some tobacco with the pipe order

My ultimate goal is try and squeeze in both before the end of the month. That will really satisfy my PAD itch for a while because I have a major bug for a rhodesian style pipe and these two are just perfect.

I'm sure these are both serviceable pipes. But if you're planning on getting both, why not combine the $$ and get something special? Just a thought.

And with their diamond shanks, I don't think either of these would be classified as "Rhodesians".

I have the Savinelli Baronet Bruyere 510 EX, two years
running and she is a fantastic, dedicated English blend smoker for
    me.

The first is lighter but the .81 to. 80 in chamber diameter won't
be a big deal, it is the 2.5 to 2.8oz that might sway you but both
EX models, so large bacci pipes just the same....if you are an
English/Balkan blend smoker you will always benefit from larger
diameter chambers...so perhaps one of these and a nice
Pot-shaped one if you don't already have one of those...

both are great choices brother and have a very happy birthday

Nice pipes, but the Hercules is my vote - mainly for the finish. FWIW, don't let a $20 savings decide for you—follow your gut. For me at least, I've got to love the looks of a pipe just as much as its smoking qualities, otherwise, I just don't use it as much.

I kind of liked the idea of having the pair with the brown and black finishes, plus I just have a soft spot for Savinellis. I have always liked the way that they smoke and the way that they feel in my hand. If I could get my hands on one I would get a Boswell but I'm usually never online early enough to catch one that I really like.

This is the Sav Pot I have been eye'in for awhile now
    http://www.smokingpipes.com/pipes/new/savinelli/moreinfo.cfm?product_id=114215

Nice 1" chamber diameter, plus lower weight at 2.3oz, so if you like
the bent-pot shape, this one would also be a win-win at about $61.

Pipe N. that's a tough call for me. I have two Savs and love them both. Get what speaks to you. If I had to pick I would go with the Bruyere. I think?

I am a pretty big English fan SD, and I am a big believer in the fact that a bigger bowl brings out a lot more flavor in complex blends, so this will probably be a good choice. I have also looked up these two pipes on pipes and cigars and they are a little cheaper but they are out of both pipes. I am seriously thinking about going ahead and pulling the trigger on the Hercules. The brown finish with the smooth rim really calls out to me.

How much do these go for? I am wondering because it may be possible to buy 1 or 2 estate pipes that will be of higher quality.
On all of these estate pipes, prices are usually negotiable.

I like them both and have a few Savinelli's that smoke really well. I don't think you could go wrong with either one. I'm with Cigrmaster though, you could buy a couple of really nice estates and be just as happy. Let us know what you decide.
