These are a must have for any of you meerschaum nuts out there. I picked up a couple of packs at the Newark (NY) Pipe Show and I have to say these are almost direct clones of the Victorian originals. They are in essence a half ball composed of chalk with veins that drops neatly into the bottom of your pipe in the same way that the Victorians used silver three penny pieces, buttons etc and they work in exactly the same way a coloring bowl works. The added bonus is they give a very dry smoke and after a week or so of use they are easy to removed with the blade of a sharp knife whilst giving an excellent head start to coloring the stem or bowl of your meerschaum.
