As a Peterson buff, this pipe, if intact, is easily worth what they are asking. I have several Peterson's of equal price that are not as unique as this pipe.

Estate Peterson pipes tend to hold on to their value better than most factory pipes, so if you can get it for that price, go for it. I have yet to obtain any of the Sherlock Holmes series pipes, as they quickly bid out of my comfort zone. Heck, I have still not seen one in the flesh, and I have been at it for the last 10 years. The 2014 Peterson christmas pipes are neat as well. I hope to own a couple of them someday.

Peterson and Dunhill tend to command the higher price and their reputation supports this. I would not be surprised if that one goes another $50 before the end

This post was not attended to promote an auction. I was simply asking a question, I have never bought a Peterson pipe before so I have no clue of there worth except for the fact that I heard they are a great pipe to have. So If I broke a rule then I apologize.

I wouldn't expect the price to be that low. It's not a steal but it is a good buy. 50% of original retail is in the usual range for a Sherlock Holmes Peterson.
