I hadn't purchased a new briar pipe in 15+ years. In the last few weeks I've binged a bit. Here is the latest arrival, first undergoing the ritual purification via 200 proof dehydrated ethanol then sleeping it off in recovery. Quite a presence, really like the heft of this one.

Nice pipe!
Can you share more details on your purification ritual?

R,

Pretty standard alcohol "retort" but using vapor rather than boiling liquid. Slower but easier to moderate. I like the vented stopper in the bowl, keeps alcohol off the finish.

I love the 9S,good choice, that one looks outstanding. The vented stopper is also a great idea, fixing a potentially sloppy part of the retort process.

Petes are real charmers, with the heft and heavy bands. I'd say that one is thoroughly sanitized.

I had a Peterson de luxe 20s, with which and some Dunhill flake it was the first time of dream smoke experience.

I loaded it up with Peterson's De Luxe Mixture today. Had a nice long smoke and it performed wonderfully. Thoroughly enjoyed the fondelicious 9S, they are beautiful pipes imo.
STV, Erlenmeyer filtering flasks can probably be had from that river in S America and I'd assume rubber stoppers as well.
Yes, they can: http://www.amazon.com/United-Scientific-FG5340-250-Borosilicate-Tubulation/dp/B00ES3TKLA/ref=pd_sim_sbs_328_1?ie=UTF8&dpID=312QX6cj3HL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL160_SR89%2C160_&refRID=15FZ1V49PCHZW5QC4KMF
