Vikas (thepipemonk) sent me this one directly via Ebay. It looked challenging, and was made even more so by a stuck stem. Patience, alcohol and penetrating fluid finally worked. I think the pipe came out great. Thanks to Dave G for documenting his stain stripping process, which I used for the first time.

Great job Al. You sure turned that toad into a prince. :puffy:
What kind of penetrating fluid would one use to loosen that stem? ordinary stuff would leave an odour/taste behind wouldn't it?

Very nice restoration Al! I like these smaller Petes, although the 314 is more normal size compared to my little 317. Always does me good to see old pipes brought back to life, and you do some of the best work I've seen!

Very good job Al! I love that shape and military mounts in general, and what you did with that goner is just fantastic.
Cheers,
J
