Im looking to buy a corn cob, as some of you know.
Can I remove the paper filter from a MM? I am just curious.

    Thanks everyone!

Absolutely. Take that filter and chuck it in the trash!

I always throw mine out. Makes the draw a lot better and leaves room for a pipe cleaner, if needed. All the restriction I need, I can get from packing the baccy.

Take stem off pipe, take out filter, throw filter in trash, replace stem.

Being new to cobs myself I'm glad that the filter was covered, otherwise I would not have thought to look for a filter until it was gooey. The size is akin to the 6mm Savinelli balsa wood filter so if you want one for some reason, the balsa wood type can still absorb a little moisture.

Yup, many including myself don't use the filters.
But by all means try a few bowls using the filters as well as without. You may find you prefer using them.

Yeah, I'd try it both ways to see which you prefer. If the pipe was designed to smoke with a filter I tend to use one. It does help keep everything dry, but proper smoking and drying of the tobacco goes a long way towards fixing any problems in my non-filtered pipes.

I smoke all filtered pipes as they were designed to be smoked, with the filter, without the filter the draw is too open for me and the pipe smokes fast and hot, your mileage may vary.

Removing the filter from cobs avoids having to deal with soggy, smelly paper tubes. It should also help you improve your smoking technique.

I always chuck mine. I one time forgot to remove one and wondered why the smoke was "different." Removal of the stem revealed a soggy filter which I promptly chucked.

...general consensus next to a picture of the general! I'm dyin' over here! LOL!

I remove filters regardless of type of pipe (so far anyway). Haven't had the chance to try the wooden type filters yet.
