You may have noticed this advertisement back on the site:

First of all, I'd like to thank Villiger-Stokkebye for returning to the site as an advertiser. They have many, many brands of excellent pipe tobacco and they take turns advertising different ones.

Currently, they are advertising Sail and Troost, which are great Cavendish tobaccos, and Orlik Golden Sliced, which is an excellent Virginia.

When I was traveling through Denmark, it seemed almost everyone was smoking Orlik Golden Slices, so I had to try it. It is an excellent semi-sweet, natural Virginia that I highly recommend. I love it.

That's great new Kevin. More advertising on this site is better for all of us.

Kevin! You should have said something when you were here! I have an opened 8 year old tin of Golden Slice sitting in my office that we could have smoked together!

Yep, it's good stuff. There's a few pounds of it in
the cellar and an open tin in the rotation. It's a
great first smoke of the day.

Ted, next time I will bring a printed list with me. I will start working on the spreadsheet now.

Or, I'll just have to go into your office next time and snoop around.

This is one of my top blends I smoke. It does have a touch of burley for fullness in it but it is bite free and just a great smoke. Happy to have them sponcer us.!

Great stuff I need to grab another tin. It's been a while.

If at first you don't succeed you are running about average.

I'd like to know what happened to Orlik Dark Strong Kentucky. It was the first flake I ever smoked and despite other peoples' mediocre ratings, I loved it. I've bought it locally and online but it seems to have disappeared as of around 3 or so years ago.

The Briary used to sell Golden Slices in bulk.
I bought it from time to time, but it was never one of my favorites.
I like VaPer's but am not a fan of Virginia Flakes.
What they used to sell was considerably lighter in color than what is depicted above.
It was very nearly a solid yellow color, but I haven't seen it in a while.
