Wow this guy really needs to see a doctor. I know its just a review but he has some deep seated feelings!!!! This was taken off the Tobacco Reviews.

As I take a puff of 1792 I am i am whisked away to a time that is much simpler that this one. A time with out the hub-ub of huge cities. A time where a man shaved the traditional way. A time when you could strike a woman for her insolence and it was okay. A time before the races mixed. And a time when you could still own other people. I'm taken back to 1792.
As I take more puffs I experience the same feeling that the founding fathers had when they doctored the Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights. That same wonderful feeling that lets you say "All men are created equally" yet at the same time still own hundreds of slaves and be fathering children with them and not see any hypocrisy in your life style. The same feeling that makes you okay with building a country on Christian principals and at the same time, commit adultery on your wife 1000 times over!

As I reach the middle of the bowl I am reminded of how pleasant it is to be with the Whores of the 18th Century and how great the brothels must have been that helped release the stress of the men who built this fine country such as George Washington and Benjamin Franklin.

My senses are then further entreated when the bowl becomes so strong. The tobacco seems to take on emotion. Emotion similar to the emotion Aaron Burr must have felt when he murdered Alexander Hamilton in semi-cold blood. Back when you could duel your enemy, pretend to be a gentleman about it, but just shoot him in the face and blow him away rather than do the social acceptable thing and fire above his head. The same raw EMOTION that let us pour boiling hot tar all over naked, kidnapped British officials that were just doing their jobs.

Oh how it made me long to be back in the days where children were seen and not heard. Where voting was left to the MEN and when women knew their rightful place; in the kitchen NOT smoking a pipe. How it made me yearn to be back 200 years ago when getting away with murder would have been so easy with all that we know now! Oh and how I would have MADE IT with the ladies; with all the advanced techniques that 200 years brings of collective male knowledge brings! I could have been a pimp!

As the bowl began to finish it was grand. It was as if I was breathing the same smoke that the patriots breathed when they decided to make war against the strongest empire in the world just to prove a point. It was as if Ben Franklin was teaching me how to choose a mistress and cheat on my wife right before my very eyes rather than me reading it in his letter " Advice to a Young Man on the Choice of a Mistress".

As the bowl ended so did my "trip" back in time. I came back to reality where I can't hit my wife or kids. A place where smokers are treated like second class citizens when really women should be treated that way. I'm brought back to a time when my children cannot be beat as they should be. I'm brought back to reality and my day dream is over... until next time when I light up with 1792

Now i gotta larn how to reed and rite good

I can't decide if he's serious. If so, he's a bit nuts, but I suspect this was done in jest.

If it was done in jest, it was done in poor taste.

This guy sorta reminds me of another fellow on there. His reviews consist of page long "stories" that read like a crappy, third rate romance novel. They rarely make any sense and tell you little to nothing about the blend that, I guess he thinks he's reviewing. Pointless and stupid, much like what this guy wrote.

I actually thinks it's fairly well done if it is a joke, but would also say that it is completely useless on a tobacco review site. It gives me NO idea what to expect from this tobacco. Quite honestly, I've smoked 1792 many times and NEVER experienced any of the things he's talking about. I'd probably smoke it a whole lot less if I did!!!!

Not sure what the guy was trying to do? Asides maybe start a riot on the pages. But he was creative in his writing, not saying I apporveor agree to any of it. I agree hes got a screw or two loose even if it was just to cause a ruckus.

I also wonder if it might have been in response to some similar reviews. I have seen some reviewers talking about how a tobacco takes them back to their childhood on the lake with their grandfather and they end up telling me NOTHING about the tobacco. I'm curious if this was meant as a jab?

With a review like that I can only think what an ass clown this person must be.

But then maybe discussions such as this is exactly what he wants to come of such a review. Perhaps not so much of a " joke " per se but more of an attempt to create emotional reactions on a large scale. Weather he reads the reactions or not just knowing they have been caused....... Some people are weird like this.

    Either way my opinion stands.

    what an ass clown

At least part troll... I think it was a well executed satire of some of the darker things in our country's past that haven't exactly been put on the front page of the newspaper.

If he really got into some ugly parts of history instead of the parts that rile people up, it would be about children dying from diarrhea and how he was getting the French pox from those whores. How only the top 2% owned slaves so that means he would likely be just as poor as those slaves and too busy working to visit his beloved whores. He'd be talking about losing babies and sometimes their mothers in childbirth and how common doctors used rusty fleams to bleed people to get their humors back in alignment.

There's much nastier stuff in history than men hit women and some people owned slaves. It just doesn't get brought up constantly.

@Cyndi - Very true, but those things aren't brought up because we've solved the issue on the home-front. Apparently some people still don't realize that it's not ok to treat women and children and minorities like possessions. You don't much hear about people attempting at-home medicine these days, so it's mostly out of the realm of political statements.

Just my two cents on the matter, don't take me too seriously!

I have followed this guy with some interest on tobacco reviews. He rips off popular scenes from movies and lyrics from popular songs when doing his reviews of Kajun Kake and Billy Budd. Pipe Friend on youtube got wise to his game and bashed him in a video that I thought was really funny. Have a look:

    How very sad

I know what I need, smoke, I can't recall the last time I tasted it....Gandalf in the mines of Moria.

"we shall have to share pipes, as good friends must at a pinch'....'I keep a treasure or two near my skin, as precious as rings to me. Here's one: my old wooden pipe. And here's another an unused one...He held up a small pipe with a wide flattened bowl, and handed it to Gimli. 'Does that settle the score between us', said Merry. 'Most noble hobbit, it leaves me deep in your debt."

cyndy don't forget the unscrupulous companies that produced "milk" that was 85% water and powdered chalk, aiding those mothers and babies along to their graves.

i think it's a grand review. amusing and insightful, if not laughable, at least it points to the real reason people laugh; we laugh because it hurts.

I like the idea...just not the execution. You should really have a point when doing this kind of thing (ie, yes, spout your "humor" but give us a damn review while you're doing it). And make sure you actually know what you're doing/saying before you do a satirical, historical rant. Anybody read "A Modest Proposal" in high school? I think that's kinda the direction he was trying to go but failed at pulling it off.
PS If you've never read it then do so now It's short and awesome.

I once read a negative review on TR.com on Boswell's Best tobacco that referred to the Boswell family as a "bunch of guffawing yokels". I would be willing to bet that this individual never talked to any of the Boswells or had any dealings with them and I'll admit I was pretty angry at him for his slander of a fine family. I've dealt with the Boswells and smoked their tobaccos for many years and they have been some of the nicest people I've ever dealt with. He also denigrated their pipes and I'll bet he never owned one of them, either. I've owned three Boswells and they all smoked like champs.

I read that 1792 review and had to wonder what chemicals the individual who wrote it was on when he launched his tirade. They do get some bizarre things on there.

Eh, doesn't seem like such a big deal. A real review would have helped. Throwing it in at the end would have been funny, at least to me. I don't see what the big deal with it is, otherwise.

Whilst his review it pure, unadulterated shit, I did derive a huge amount of enjoyment from reading Benjamin Franklin's letter to a young man about finding a mistress - can be verified via wiki, google etc:

That review was inspiring! After reading it, I went up stairs and asked the wife to make me a sandwich. She said no and I back handed her a good one just like a man should! I turned to walk away from her and she pushed me down the stairs. When I came too, I had 2 broken ribs and discovered she locked me out of the bedroom. I walked outside and saw my african american neighbor and said "Boy, I got a cord of wood that needs cutting, you best get too it or you'll feel the whip!" He kicked my ass and when I got up to go inside, he kicked my ass again. Feeling pretty bad and stressed, I went over to Cicero and asked a hooker to give me a knob shine. She knelt down, bit down and stole my wallet as I reeled from my bobbiting. When I got home, I kicked the kids off the couch and told them to make me that sandwich while I took a bath. They tossed their xbox into the tub with me while I rested. Good times. Good times.

What I'd like to know, though, is why doesn't the owners of the site remove garbage like this.

Southerners don't talk slow because they're dumb, we do it because there's really no rush.

The breast comment was made in response to someone saying this topic had come and gone on other pipe forums. There's a reason I'm on THIS forum and the reddit forum - period. I have logins to 6 other sites and refuse to go back to all of them. I don't need to educate them because it's not likely they're going to change from being a mean old man circle jerk.

When someone is sexist over her, it's usually unintentional and I barely have to whip out the old Mad Mommy look before things are better. Other places believe that women have no place doing "manly" things. I'm fine with that - when they all die it's going to be just a vast Internet wasteland in their forums.

Why don't you go make nice in those forums and bring their estate collections back to the real man cave.

I don't smoke 1792 but I do hold open doors for ladies and raise my hat (unless it is raining ).I also do all the sowing in our house.

A Couple of thoughts, if I may chime into this conversation:
    1. Perhaps I am being a bit too pragmatic, but shouldn't a tobacco review tell me something about the taste, texture, quality, etc. of the tobacco? Based on the “review” I have no information as to whether or not 1792 is a tobacco worth trying. Was the reviewer implying that smoking 1792 transforms one into a complete cad, or simply using the tobacco review as a platform for the tasteless rant by a very disturbed individual. Having watched the video posted by Pipe Novelist, concerning a similar rant by this individual with respect to another tobacco, I believe the latter to be true. The fact I find most amazing is that he has a wife and kids. He really does need professional help, and/or his medications adjusted.
    2. Some discussion in this forum has alluded to the possibility that the “review” was a poor attempt at sarcasm. The posting by Hauntedmyst focused on the “review” was a fine example of sarcasm, it made me laugh. In contrast, the original “review” appears to be more the twisted rambling of a “sick puppy” looking for negative attention. As such summarily ignoring anything further posted by that reviewer is perhaps the most prudent course of action.
3.The distorted view of history in which his deplorable mindset was status quo, with the founding fathers and others being kindred spirits, the total misinterpretation of Franklin’s writing, and the totally disturbed view of history, gives me cause to wonder if any attempt at educating this individual prevailed
4 “Other forums aren't friendly to pipe smokers with breasts” Cindi, and Aussielass, I am sorry to hear that there are still such chauvinist sexist Neanderthals who believe pipe smoking to be the sole providence of men, and who are likely threatened by anyone that might upset their world view. As far as I can see pipe smoking requires hands to manipulate the tobacco and pipe, lips and breathe to smoke the pipe. (Both men and women possess these). I prefer to think of such Neanderthals as simply idiots, who in an ideal world would be rounded up and shot!

    @profar:

Regarding your #3. I mentioned earlier, that the review was emblematic of marxist critical theory whereby the cultural base is deconstructed (historically) and diminished, and contextualized as the source of everything wrong in society. It was a feeble attempt to convert the image of a founding father into an evil, wife beating, oppressive & adulterous scumbag. Perhaps I am giving him too much credit and he was simply channeling his own dad.

Is the fellow who originally wrote the diatribe on 1792 a troll or just a sarcastic someone? Don't know, don't care, but I love 1792 and pipe smokers with breasts!

Thanks for posting the Ben Franklin letter; it's great reading, and still makes perfect sense, even after all these years.
