Yet another pipe caught my attention on Ebay last week. It was a small Yello-Bole pipe with a KB&B logo on the shank. The starting bid of $9.99 seemed high for a pipe in the condition it appeared to be, which is this:
I was worried all those blackened areas indicated burn through. However, most of it came off with some scrubbing using grain alcohol and cotton pads. I also had to do some light sanding. (The inside was a crusty mess, too)
After buffing with white diamond and a coat of wax I ended up with this:
Not a perfect restoration but good enough, I suppose. Not so sure of my skills, so I took a conservative approach.
Does anyone know anything about the shape name? I couldn't find any Yello-Bole catalogs on the Net to compare it to and there are no numbers visible on the pipe.
