I really like this pipe and I am considering ordering one. This is the picture from his website:

Is this typically what would be called a "cavalier" shape? Or is this just his own designation? My research gives some other shapes for cavalier.

if you look at this pipe shape chart you'll see that traditional cavalier's are distinctly different. So, I'd say that he named his shape based on something else.

I got an email from Ian Walker from Northern Briars. He told me that he has taken the "Cavalier" shape from Charatan pipes over 100 years ago. I have done some initial research on this. It looks very interesting. I had never heard of Charatan before. But then again I am a complete novice. I see that they call it a "round rim calabash". It seems Charatan was bought by Lane which was bought by Dunhill. I am even more interested in this pipe pipe now. Does anyone know more about Charatan?
