Well, I'm a huge Savinelli fan. It's hard to find a better deal for your money. I do stay away from the ones with the bowl coating though, I don't care for that on any pipe brand.
For $150 you can get an outstanding pipe.
The Fuoco line is a good one.

A bit over $150 but the Monsieur line is excellent also.

Trevi line is about $100.

You get the idea, lots to choose from in the $75-$175 range. You can't go wrong.

This Savinelli Liquirizia 673 is one of my favorite pipes and possibly my best smoker. They are in stock at SPC for $156 which sound right on the spot of your price range. I could not recommend a better selection.

If you like Italian pipes, I'd look for a Ser Japaco estate. For new, I'd check out their Gepetto line. I only have two, but I've handled a bunch. They are crazy light for their size and the two I have smoke like a dream with English/Balkan/Oriental blends. I don't intend to put any aromatics through them so I can't comment on how those smoke.

I have heard nothing but good things about Briar Works pipes. Here are some that look really nice and have all kinds of nice grain.

Smoking pipes also recommend the briar works pipes as well I just didn't see anything that caught my eye. Don't get me wrong they are very good looking though. Sea captain that is the one I was looking at the only part of it that doesn't Appel to me is the two tone band. If that is the only flaw it should keep me satisfied. It would be nice if we had local pipe shops I could just stop by and browse but the closest one is 2 hours away so all I have is yall and the Internet. I'm very thankful for all of the suggestions you have provided thus far

624 isn't one of the more common shapes. You can find it in their Roma series also but the Roma pipes are some of my least favorite Savinelli's. You can also check on eBay. International sellers carry different lines like "Vesuvio" but they usually have 9mm balsa filters rather than the standard 6mm, not that that really matters unless you don't like filters.

Nathan, what types of tobacco are you smoking? I smoke mostly flakes and I buy my pipes based on how well I think the pipe will smoke my favorite cut of tobacco. Flake pipes are different than ribbon or course cuts. You also want to think about the size of the pipe and the weight, whether you are a clencher or a holder. Also you definitely want to make sure that any pipe you buy passes the pipe cleaner test. That means you should be able to put a fluffy pipe cleaner into the stem and it easily goes into the chamber of the pipe. If it doesn't pass this test, you should pass on the pipe. Anyone you buy from will check the pipe if you ask them.

I have purchased 9 Morreti pipes new and unsmoked on eBay. Most of his pipes would fit in your price range. I've been extremely pleased with his pipes, great bargain right now IMHO.

I'll second the 673 KS, ample bowl, nice balance, good weight, and excellent finish. It just depends if you want an estate as an upgrade for the price, or a new pipe, which has merits of its own ... I seem to like new better than some Forum's members.

My price limit on machine made models is around $100, after that you can get some really nice hand-made models - check out Radice, they have some really nice models I see right now on SP.com for between $160-$190. Take your time on the selection process , find all that you are looking for and then strike with a thunder.
