I have been smoking a pipe on and off the last three years. Seven months ago I became very much loving the hobby.

My question is about my yello bole burley. While cleaning it I ended up going to far and removed the clay paint (i assume) inside the pot.

Should I be worried? Should I find some clay paint and paint the pot?

I appreciate any advice!

I don't know exactly what that bowl coating on Yello-Boles is, but it is important, if at all, only for the first few weeks or months of smoking. After that, the carbon layer, or cake if you are a cake builder (as most are), will provide a bowl lining. You sure don't have to replace the original bowl lining. Many sand off the coating before they smoke a new pipe. I don't bother with that, but I do give points for new pipes without a bowl coating. I own one Yello-Bole and ignored the yellow coating, and the little pipe has become an exemplary citizen.
