Just received delivery from Mario Grandi of a freehand churchwarden. The stem is not super long, maybe 6 inches or so, ebonite. The pipe only weighs 46gr. This is my first factory-new pipe. I'm excited to break it in. I just need a tin of something nicer than captain black to do so...

    Very nice!

I'm not a churchwarden fan normally, but I really like this one. The stummel is substantial, the grain is straight and tight and the bowl is thick. The stem is rubber and not too long, thus less unwieldy.

I'm also thinking that with that bowl, often a common problem with most churchwardens -- the bowl getting too hot -- will be considerably mitigated by those thick walls.

Great choice and congratulations, Jeremy! Please let us know how she smokes!

I don't care for freehands, so the shape isn't really my style. It's got some good grain though. And cograts on your first new pipe!

As long as I got a pipe full of baccy and a nose full of snuff, I'm a happy camper

Congrats on your first new pipe! I'm sure you are very excited, as I would be.

Pipe a good tobacco for its first run.

    Congrats!

I have a Mario Grandi and found it very easy to break in. It took to being smoked right away and had almost a sweet taste behind it.

    Hope you enjoy it.

She's a beauty! Mario Grandi go too far out there with some of their pipes, but that freehand is amazing!

I like it. It looks like a good pipe for a flake blend. Congrats and good luck with it.
